I recently spent a weekend with a friend in Chicago, and she told me she’d never been to Worcester before. She said it was a small town in the suburbs, and she was surprised that they had a lot of bars and restaurants. Now she’s a big fan of Worcester, and I have to agree. It’s a wonderful little town that is a major tourist attraction in the Northeast, with a variety of restaurants and bars to satisfy any craving.
I thought about this while I was wandering around Worcester looking for a place to eat, and I think that Worcester is a great town to explore if you are a fan of great places. But, I also think it’s a small town that is still very much a very local place, and it is very much worth the drive to visit. Although, I’ve heard that Worcester is rather busy with tourists, so I don’t know if you really want to go there.
As a small Massachusetts town, Worcester has a lot going for it. First of all, it is a large population center and is well known for its good restaurants, pubs, and beer. Worcester is also known for the Worcester Celtic Festival, which is one of the best Celtic celebrations in the Northeast, and the Worcester Winter Festival, both of which are held annually.

If you love Celtic music, Worcester is the place to go to see it. Not only are the Celtic Festival and music concerts world-class, but there are dozens of events and activities for kids in the area. Many of these are free, including a great area for kids to play soccer. Worcester has a great Irish food scene, so there are plenty of places to get Irish food without ever leaving the city.
It’s not all the music and Irish food, however. There are plenty of places to visit for shopping, too. The city has many wonderful bookstores, including some of the top indie bookstores in the country. One of the best places to shop in the country is in the city’s historic district, so head to the city center for a good shopping experience.
