The fact is that the majority of our thoughts and actions are on autopilot. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. Our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions carry us through our lives so we don’t have to stop and think about it every time we wipe our ass or start a car.
The problem is when we were on autopilot for so long that we forgot we were on autopilot. Because when we’re not even aware of our own habits, routines, impulses, and reactions, then we no longer control them they control us. Whereas a person with self-awareness is able to exercise a little meta-cognition and say, “Hmm… every time my sister calls me and asks for money, I end up drinking a lot of vodkas.
This also applies to the kind of life that we lead. If you make a million decisions every day, you will rarely pause to think, “hey, that was a mistake.” You will just move on to your next task. You will not think, “I wish I’d done this, but this will take me four hours instead.” If you’ve never been an employee, you will never have been aware of how much time you spend on the job.
The thing is, if you are not part of a company that has such a huge budget, you will probably not even be aware of the fact that you are part of a company that will allow you to be part of a company that has such a big budget. If you’re like me who have to work for $100 a week, you will probably not keep paying for your time. Think about this. I was very young, and probably wasn’t working.
Ive often thought that my role as an employee has something to do with making sure the company is making a profit. I may not have taken an accounting class, but I do know what it does to me to know that I am part of an organization that is making a profit. If I was in a position to negotiate for a raise, I would probably tell someone that I needed to see a profit.
The main reason for this is that the company I work for, the company I work for, and the people who work for it are all very much in the same boat. They all want to be in the same boat, and that is why they all work for the same company.
A company that makes profit is a company that is in business. A company that is not making profit is a company that is not in business.
When the company you work for does not make profit, you have a serious problem with your job. One that is easy to fix if you have the right people around you to make it happen.
No, the problem is that you can’t really fix that.
The only company that does not make business decisions is the one that has the best chance of causing the worst possible event. Like most companies, you have to make the right team that can work for you. The key is getting the right people together so that you can have a very good story. It’s the wrong team that you have to make the right decisions.
