I am one of those people that believe that a lamp in a room is the most important thing. It adds just that bit more light to the room, and it also adds a kind of light that can change moods, moods that are so subtle but they are there.
For example, a dimmer switch can be used to turn a room dark, but it can also be used to make a room brighter (which is actually the same as dimming it). It can be used to change mood, or to bring about a transformation.
